I just got back about half an hour ago from the Charlotte March for Our Lives. As I arrived at the University City Boulevard light rail station, I found myself musing about how the NRA seems to think hat wanting our kids to come home safe and alive amounts to socialism.
Well, it looks like the socialist wave was already building, based on what I saw at the station and on the train.

— Darrell Lucus (@DarrellLucus) March 24, 2018For those who don’t know, UNC Charlotte is on the northeastern end of town. It made me wonder—what was it like on the train coming from the southern end of the county. I got an answer from the Facebook event page for our march; apparently the station on the far southern end, at I-485, was already teeming.
We arrived at 7th Street Station, just a short walk from the march step-off point at First Ward Park. Lot of socialism already there.
xAwful lot of radical socialists hanging around Charlotte today. Are you listening, @NRA? This is what democracy looks like! @MFOLclt#MarchForOurLives#NeverAgain#iwillmarchpic.twitter.com/fUQ0Aju1Im
— Darrell Lucus (@DarrellLucus) March 24, 2018 xMore radical socialism in Charlotte. Pay attention, @NRA. We surround you. @MFOLclt#iwillmarch#NeverAgain#MarchForOurLivespic.twitter.com/qtAd0RDMUL
— Darrell Lucus (@DarrellLucus) March 24, 2018As inspiring as this already was, it was even more so to see the number of teachers coming out to support their kids.

— Darrell Lucus (@DarrellLucus) March 24, 2018With this many people here, it was hard to wonder—were our Senators, Thom Tillis (who lives in nearby Cornelius) and Richard Burr, paying attention? And whose side are they on?

— Darrell Lucus (@DarrellLucus) March 24, 2018We stepped off at around 11:45. I got a sample of what happened just as we headed into a light rain.
x Facebook ContentSurprisingly, we only ran into two NRA supporters along the way. Given how crimson the suburbs are, I thought there’d be more. A good sign, to say the least.
The march ended at Marshall Park. Here’s a sample of what happened there.
x Facebook ContentHow do you like them apples, Wayne and Dana? You, the faceless men who write your checks, and the politicians in your pocket have officially been warned.
